Sunshine Camps

Now that we are using Seesaw as our class blogs there are fewer posts here. It is not that we are being lazy it is that we are posting more to our parents.
This week is camp week.  On Monday our Year Four students went out to Camp Kaitoke for an overnight experience.  The photos are from their camp.
Our Year Five and Six students went out on Tuesday and are due back on Friday.
A wonderful facility, a great experience.

Welcome to Mr DB.
Our first Sunshine Hui of 2018.

What lovely respectful students.
Our first two weeks are complete and things are settling beautifully in the Sunshine Team.  We have syndicate hui every Thursday at 2.15pm - you are welcome to join us.  School assembly on Wednesdays at 2.15 and syndicate sport on Fridays at 2.15pm.
We welcome Mr Connor Driver-Burgess to the team - he'll be in Room Three and Jenny Peacock will join Jason Ward and Olwyn Johnston in Room Two.
Camp organisation is coming along beautifully - thanks to all those who have offered to be camp parents.  Kaitoke has had a major revamp since last we were there in 2016.
We are loving using Seesaw and hope you are too.
Ngā mihi nui.

Hello again.

Don't forget, Wednesdays are Wheels Days, for all students and bears.  (You'll be pleased to know there was even a safety helmet on underneath that awesome face).

AND due to a Teacher Only Day and Waitangi Day we won't see our super students until next Wednesday 7 February.

Also, Room Two has a blog of its own.
You can find it at:

Our first week.

Week One is almost over and what a week!  It has been incredibly hot and then today the wind was incredible, and then torrential rain.  Unfortunately, we felt it wise to cancel our first Sunshine hui, we didn't want soaked students.
A reminder that we have a Teacher Only Day on Monday and then Waitangi Day is Tuesday.  One of our tasks is to get more information to you about camp - watch out for that early next week.
Thanks to everyone who has signed up to Seesaw - download the family app not the student one or the QR code won't work.
It has been a super start to 2018.  Thanks for your support.
Only two more sleeps until 2018 really starts for the Sunshine Team.

We will start with a pōwhiri to welcome our new teachers and students at 9am on Monday.

We are on a journey to develop our tikanga at Tawa School and our pōwhiri is still developing.

If there is a member of our school community who would be able to assist us by giving our karanga I'd love to hear from you.

Everyone is welcome to be a part of our pōwhiri - it'd be fantastic to see you there.

Please remember all students need a named wide brimmed hat, a named drink bottle and a positive attitude.

We are looking forward to a really great year.

Happy Holidays

Wishing all Tawa School whānau a very Merry Christmas. We are looking forward to 2018. Be ready for a much more digital style of teaching and learning.   The best is yet to come.
